Taiwan, facing the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, needs to take new approaches to drive its economic recovery. The pandemic has accelerated the digital transformation of Taiwanese businesses and various sectors, as it has elsewhere around the world; and the Taiwan market’s tech-heavy nature is benefiting from this trend. Thematic ETFs, such as those focusing on 5G and electric vehicles, are gaining growing interest from investors.
Another theme, in line with international trends, is the increasing importance of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors in investing. Climate risks and corporate governance in Taiwan are becoming the main concerns for companies as investor awareness of the value of sustainability to a portfolio grows.
Thus, the appetite for ESG products has grown rapidly in Taiwan – not only from institutions but from millennials as well. And, as the government pursues a green recovery and ramps up efforts to encourage sustainable practices, demand for such products will only continue to grow in the Taiwanese market. However, investors are facing hurdles like a lack of suitable domestic products and ESG labels that meet international standards.
The Asset Events+ is pleased to present the Taiwan Investment Summit – Transitioning to a green future – a high-level event bringing together issuers, pension funds, insurance companies, asset managers and banking institutions to discuss the evolving landscape in the Taiwan investment market.
