Asia-Pacific’s digital asset market is expanding at a rapid pace. Across the region, the interest for digital assets remains active despite recent market stress. The anticipated entry of more traditional players into this space, coupled with the rise of new digital asset managers, traders and digital exchanges, has also expanded the digital assets ecosystem.
While digital assets have increasingly become an important component of an investor portfolio, the recent global market upheaval has, in addition to dampening investor sentiment, exposed the digital asset market to new risks, revealing, for instance, a significant correlation (cross-investment) between it and the wider Asian financial system. Consequently, regulators across Asia are doubling down on their commitment to improve regulation of the digital asset market, but settling on a framework and putting the regulations in place take time.
With more regulation in the offing and continued market uncertainties and volatility expected, how this new growth area weathers and emerges from this period of upheaval is paramount for all stakeholder communities including regulators, crypto natives, traditional finance, technology and investors. As adoption continues, participants like custodians can play an even bigger role in bridging investors, and supporting other participants in navigating the opportunities and risks in this space.
The Asset Events, in association with Deutsche Bank, is pleased to be hosting an in-depth discussion to discuss the future of digital assets in Asia.
